Recent Writings...

TurbinesCurious how Rhode Island followed through on last summer’s Green Economy Roundtable, which I facilitated? Read their Green Economy business plan here.

I’ve used this dynamic planning style to help these colleges - New England Institute of Technology, Marion Court College, Labouré College, Ben Franklin Institute of Technology, and Bunker Hill Community College (BHCC) - create strategic plans in the past year.

Recent Client Work...

BHCCI recently facilitated BHCC's fourth multi-year large group planning event since 1999, involving about 300 participants, to set goals for the next three years. Board Chair Jeanne-Marie Boylan, in her remarks, said, "The way BHCC does its planning is unique in the nation, inclusive, and drives the work and spending plans of the institution." BHCC has grown 72% since 2000 and recently won international acclaim for offering midnight classes to better serve the needs of its students. Read about those classes here.

USMThe University of Southern Maine (USM) recently invited faculty, staff, students and community members to help restructure the institution in the face of daunting budget cuts, and about 300 participated over two days in a meeting I facilitated using Open Space Technology (OST). COO Jim Shaffer said, “We faced a plethora of multiple constituencies and values. OST turned out to be ideally suited to the task. The result was a self-organizing outpouring of passion and creativity.” To read more about OST at USM, click here.
