Organizations facing ever more complex challenges that can only be solved by collaboration, even among competing entities, increasingly turn to large, diverse “Stakeholder Summits” for breakthrough conversations. Core design principles include: 1) Get the whole system in the room; 2) Have small, diverse groups self-manage their work; 3) Build a common database together; and 4) Seek common ground through dialogue, not problem-solving.

An emerging, as yet unnamed, consortium representing 100 green energy CEOs in Massachusetts has asked me to lead their Stakeholder Summit this June 15th to envision a robust clean energy economy in the Commonwealth. A desired outcome is a Clean Energy Council, conceived as a “megacommunity” open to all committed stakeholders.
