Greetings!

Recent Writings...
Some consultants argue that all a productive organization really needs is a compelling twenty-year goal and a crisp ninety-day action plan. While that may be an extreme view, the value of BHAGs, or Big Hairy Audacious Goals in the memorable language of Jim Collins, is beyond dispute.
I recently helped Equal Exchange, the fair trade coffee people, create a visionary BHAG for their company that may take decades to achieve. My article on the process was recently published at www.ourbiz.biz. Read it HERE.
If you want a copy of “Building Your Company’s Vision,” the seminal Harvard Business Review article by Jim Collins and Jerry Porras, send me a note.
Recent Client Work...
I am inspired by the work of my clients every day. A great recent example is EcoLogic Finance, a Cambridge based nonprofit that provides affordable credit and financial education to community-based businesses that promote both economic development and environmental stewardship in the developing world.
They’re the boots on the ground that change lives by bringing the tools of finance to enterprising people of modest means who are so often spurned by traditional capital markets. We’ve been mapping out their strategic plan.
Signing off...
Remember the Nonprofit Summit I co-facilitated last December for 250 sector leaders in Worcester? It created a Common Agenda that led to the creation of a statewide nonprofit organization, the Massachusetts Nonprofit Network. Join me in becoming a Founding Member! Learn more (site to be up shortly) at www.massnonprofitnet.org.
I hope you had a great Thanksgiving.
And remember to give thanks every day!
Take care,
Jay
